Kathmandu – Gyanendra Shah said that Nepal should resolve its prevailing national problems before moving toward the upcoming elections.
In a video message issued on Wednesday on the occasion of the 74th National Democracy Day, the former king said that although periodic elections are a natural process in a democratic system, the seriousness of the current national situation must be carefully considered.
Former King Gyanendra Shah said that public sentiment at present suggests it would be appropriate to proceed to the forthcoming electoral process only after addressing key national issues.
He further said that elections should be held only after building national consensus and inclusive understanding among all stakeholders to prevent potential conflict, unrest, or political deadlock after the polls.
According to Shah, dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among political forces are essential to ensure stability and safeguard the country’s future.

७४औँ राष्ट्रिय प्रजातन्त्र दिवसका अवसरमा बुधबार जारी गरिएको भिडियो सन्देशमा पूर्वराजा शाहले प्रजातन्त्रमा आवधिक निर्वाचन प्रतिनिधि छनोटको स्वाभाविक प्रक्रिया भए पनि वर्तमान परिस्थितिको गम्भीरता बुझ्न आवश्यक रहेको बताएका हुन्।
पूर्वराजा ज्ञानेन्द्र शाहले अहिलेको आम जनभावना पहिले राष्ट्रिय समस्याको समाधानतर्फ केन्द्रित रहेको उल्लेख गर्दै त्यसपछि मात्र निर्वाचन प्रक्रियामा जानु उचित हुने बताएका छन्।
उनले निर्वाचनपछि कुनै प्रकारको द्वन्द्व, अशान्ति वा खिचातानी नहोस् भन्ने सुनिश्चित गर्न राष्ट्रिय सहमति र सबैलाई समेट्ने समझदारी निर्माण गरी मात्र चुनावमा जानुपर्नेमा जोड दिएका छन्।
उनका अनुसार राजनीतिक दलहरूबीच संवाद, सहकार्य र समन्वयमार्फत साझा मार्गचित्र तयार गरेर मात्रै मुलुकलाई स्थायित्वतर्फ लैजान सकिनेछ।
